SAVILE PARK CONSERVATION AREA
SKIRCOAT GREEN CONSERVATION AREA
HUDDERSFIELD ROAD EAST CONSERVATION AREA
Notice is hereby given that on 24 October 2005, the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, as the Local Planning Authority, designated the areas described in the Schedule to this notice as Conservation Areas for the purposes of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The effect of designation is that special attention is to be paid to preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of these areas. In particular any person wishing to demolish a building is required to apply to the Council for “Conservation Area Consent” before carrying out works and any person wishing to top, lop or fell a tree not already protected by a Tree Preservation Order must give the Local Planning Authority written notice of their intention at least 6 weeks prior to carrying out the proposed works. The designation of a conservation area also has the effect of reducing the extent of permitted development rights relating to side, rear and roof extensions to dwelling houses, the siting of satelite dishes and the erection of outbuildings. Planning applications which, in the Council’s opinion, affect the character of the conservation area must be given publicity. Penalties apply in the event of offences against these controls.
