THE EAST KENT RAILWAY ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER
The East Kent Railway Trust (“the Trust”), whose address to which all requests for
further information and all notices or other documents required to be served upon
the applicant is c/o Winckworth Sherwood, 35 Great Peter Street, Westminster, London
SW1P 3LR, is applying to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the
Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order under sections 1 and 5
of that Act.
The draft Order makes provision for the transfer of the existing East Kent railway
in the District of Dover, County of Kent from BRB (Residuary) Limited to the Trust.
The said railway is approximately 3,450 metres in length and commences in the parish
of Eythorne at a point approximately 3 metres beyond the north-east bridge abutment
adjacent to Wigmore Lane and terminates in the parish of Shepherdswell with Coldred
at a point in the vicinity of the Network Rail substation where the gate crosses the
railway. In addition the railway includes the branch line (approximately 139 metres
in length) comprised in the Shepherdswell passenger station of the Trust. The draft
Order also makes other provisions as to the railway.
Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application
should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, c/o the Department for Transport,
Transport and Works Act Orders Unit, Zone 9/01, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London
SW1E 6DT, on or before 4 April 2006. An objection or representation MUST (i) be received
by the Secretary of State on or before 4 April 2006, (ii) be made in writing, (iii)
state the grounds of objection or representation, (iv) indicate who is making the
objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating
to the objection or representation may be sent.
The Secretary of State may make objections and other representations public and will
copy them to the applicant for the Order.
