DECLARATION OF NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE
PARISHES OF MILBURN, LONG MARTON, DUFTON, FOREST AND FRITH, HOLWICK AND LUNEDALE
COUNTIES OF CUMBRIA AND DURHAM

Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of section 19 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and section 35 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 that by the Moor House - Upper Teesdale No 1 Declaration 2006 made on 28 September 2006, English Nature declared that the land having a total area of 7399.90 hectares or thereabouts, situated in the Parishes of Milburn, Long Marton and Dufton in the county of Cumbria and in the parishes of Forest and Frith, Holwick and Lunedale in the county of Durham, and shown cross hatched on the maps attached to the said Declaration (which land was included in the: (1) Moor House Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration made by the Nature Conservancy on 19 May 1952; (2) Moor House Nature Reserve No 3 Declaration made by the Nature Conservancy Council on 4 May 1976; (3) Upper Teesdale Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration made by the Nature Conservancy on 17 September 1963; (4) Upper Teesdale Nature Reserve No 2 Declaration made by the Natural Environment Research Council on 9 December 1969; (5) Upper Teesdale Nature Reserve No 3 Declaration made by the Nature Conservancy Council on 11 December 1973); has ceased to be managed as a nature reserve. Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of section 19 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and section 35 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 that by the Moor House - Upper Teesdale National Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration 2006, made on 28 September 2006, English Nature declared that the land having a total area of 8669.74 hectares or thereabouts, situated in the Parishes of Milburn, Long Marton and Dufton in the county of Cumbria and in the parishes of Forest and Frith, Holwick and Lunedale in the county of Durham, and shown single hatched and shaded yellow on the maps attached to the said Declaration, is being held by English Nature or is the subject of an Agreement entered into with English Nature, and is being managed as a nature reserve. Certified copies of the Moor House - Upper Teesdale National Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration 2006 have been deposited for public inspection, free of charge, during normal office hours at the offices of Cumbria County Council, Durham County Council, Eden District Council and Teesdale District Council and at the offices of English Nature at The Quadrant, Newburn Riverside, Newcastle upon Tyne and Northminster House, Peterborough.
