ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
A11 TRUNK ROAD (STUMP CROSS INTERCHANGE, ESSEX TO NINE MILE HILL INTERCHANGE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE AND WATERHALL, CAMBRIDGESHIRE TO THICKTHORN ROUNDABOUT, CRINGLEFORD, NORFOLK) (24 HOUR CLEARWAY) ORDER 2007
The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2) and 4(1) of and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A11 Trunk Road in Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk and Suffolk. The effect of the Order, which came into force on 12th January 2007, will be to prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time on the A11 Trunk Road, other than a layby, between its junction with— (1) the A11/A1301/M11 Stump Cross Interchange, Essex and the A11/A14/A1303 Nine Mile Hill Interchange (Junction 36), Cambridgeshire, including all slip roads connecting with that length of road; and (2) the A11/A14 Waterhall Interchange (Junction 38), Cambridge and the A11/A47 Thickthorn Roundabout at Cringleford Interchange, Norfolk including the circulatory carriageway of that roundabout and all slip roads connecting with that length of road; This Order will consolidate all the previous Clearway Orders pertaining to the above lengths of A11 and— (a) will vary— (i) The Various Roads (A10, A11 and A45) (24 Hour Main Carriageway Clearway) Order S.I.1985/665, and (ii) The A11 Trunk Road (Wymondham—Cringleford Improvement) (24 Hour Main Carriageway Clearway) Order S.I.1989/1917, and (b) will revoke— (i) The London - Norwich Trunk Road (A11) (Newmarket Bypass)(24 Hour Main Carriageway Clearway) Order S.I.1982/1860, (ii) The A11 Trunk Road (Attleborough Bypass) (24 Hour Main Carriageway Clearway) Order S.I.1986/395, (iii) The A11 Trunk Road (Barton Mills Bypass) 24 Hour Main Carriageway Clearway) Order S.I.1988/58, (iv) The London - Norwich Trunk Road (A11) (Thetford Bypass) (24 Hour Main Carriageway Clearway) Order S.I.1990/2130, and (v) any other Order made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1967 which prohibits or restricts vehicles waiting on the lengths of road described at 1 and 2 above. Any person wishing to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in, the Order on the ground that it is not within the powers with respect to the Order conferred by the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of, or of any instrument made under, any provision of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of 8th January 2007 apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
