COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF LAND AND NEW RIGHTS IN THE PARISHES OF BROGBOROUGH HUSBORNE CRAWLEY HULCOTE AND SALFORD ASPLEY GUISE LIDLINGTON MARSTON MORETAINE WOOTTON STEWARTBY KEMPSTON RURAL KEMPSTON AND ELSTOW IN THE DISTRICTS OF MID BEDFORDSHIRE AND BEDFORD IN THE COUNTY OF BEDFORDSHIRE

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has prepared in draft The A421 Trunk Road (M1 Junction 13 to Bedford Improvements) Compulsory Purchase Order (MP No. ) 20 . under sections 239, 240 and 246 of the Highways Act 1980. He is about to make this Order, and if made, the Order will authorise the Secretary of State for Transport to purchase compulsorily the land and the new rights described below for the purpose of:

(a) the construction of the new trunk road in the Parishes of Brogborough and Husborne Crawley, Hulcote and Salford, Aspley Guise, Lidlington, Marston Moretaine, Wootton, Stewartby, Kempston Rural, Kempston and Elstow in the Districts of Mid Bedfordshire and Bedford in the County of Bedfordshire in pursuance of the Trunk Road Order;

(b) the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises in those parishes and districts in pursuance of the Side Roads Order;

(c) the improvement of the trunk road in those parishes and districts;

(d) use by the Secretary of State for Transport in connection with such construction and improvement of highways and the execution of other works mentioned above; and

(e) the mitigation of any adverse effects which the existence or use of the highways proposed to be constructed or improved will have on their surroundings.

Copies of the draft Order and of the map referred to therein, together with copies of The A421 Trunk Road (M1 Junction 13 to Bedford Improvements and Detrunking) Order 20 . (“The Trunk Road Order”) and the A421 Trunk Road (M1 Junction 13 to Bedford Improvements Side Roads) Order 20 . Any objection to the draft compulsory purchase order must be made in writing and addressed to the Secretary of State for Transport at the offices of the Highways Agency, Woodlands, Manton Lane, Bedford, MK41 7LW marked for the attention of Yvonne Tomkins, to arrive before 21 June 2007 and should state the title of the Order and quote reference HA 065/009/351. It should give the grounds of objection and the objector’s address and interests in the land. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of the grounds of objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.
