TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992
THE TRANSPORT AND WORKS (APPLICATIONS AND OBJECTIONS PROCEDURE) (ENGLAND AND WALES) RULES 2006
RULE 14(1)
THE NOTTINGHAM EXPRESS TRANSIT SYSTEM ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

Nottingham City Council of The Guildhall, Nottingham NG1 4BT and The Nottinghamshire County Council of County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 7QP have applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order to be made under sections 1 and 3 of that Act.

The proposed Order authorises the construction and operation of two extensions to the existing Nottingham Express Transit system (known as NET Line One) running between Nottingham City Centre and Hucknall—from the City Centre to Clifton via Wilford, and from the City Centre to Chilwell via the Queen’s Medical Centre and Beeston—and, for that purpose, compulsorily or by agreement to acquire land and rights in land and to use land. The Order also makes provision in connection with the continued operation and maintenance of NET Line One and accordingly provides for the repeal of certain provisions of the Greater Nottingham Light Rapid Transit Act 1994 by which the construction, operation and maintenance of Line One was authorised. The Order contains a number of protective provisions for the benefit of affected undertakings.

The application is subject to an environmental impact assessment.

The application contains a statement that a direction for deemed planning permission is being applied for in relation to the development that would be authorised by the Order.

Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, Department for Transport, c/o TWA Orders Unit, Zone 9/09, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DT, on or before 7 June 2007.

All requests for further information or respecting notices or other documents relating to the application should be made to the undersigned.
