CONSERVATION AREA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under the provisions of the Act that New Forest National Park Authority (“the Authority”) has determined that the area described in the Schedule to this Notice is an area of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance its character or appearance. As a result, on 26 March 2008, the Authority designated the area as a “conservation area”.
The principal effects of the designation of this area as a conservation area are as follows:
1. The Authority is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.
2. Consent must be obtained from the Authority for the demolition of any building in the area.
3. Additional publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.
4. In carrying out any functions under the planning acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Authority and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.
5. Six weeks’ notice must be given to the Authority before works are carried out to any tree in the area.

The boundaries are:
In a clockwise direction, from the south side of Linford Road, Poulner following the National Park boundary north to the junction with the north side of the track to the north of Hillside Cottage, then following the National Park boundary west to the west of the junction with Cowpitts Lane, south west to the junction with Gorley Road and then north following the National Park boundary on the east side of Gorley Road to the cattlegrid south of Rockford Green. Continuing to follow the National Park boundary west across Gorley Road, around Rockford Green and then north around land including the Alice Lisle Public House, east returning to the east side of Gorley Road. Continuing to follow the National Park boundary north to the east of Gorley Road turning west, south of Moyles Court, still following the National Park boundary, around Broom Copse, across Ellingham Drove and then north and west along the National Park boundary to return to the east side of Gorley Road. Continuing along the National Park boundary north to Cross Lanes and then west along the north side of Mockbeggar Lane, north around Forest Corner and east around Cross Lanes Farm. Then diverging from the National Park boundary, following, and including, the west verge of Gorley Road north to meet the National Park boundary north of Elmtrees Cottage. Following the National Park boundary to the east of Gorley Road, north to New Farm, then west, and north around land including New Farm, north to Blind Lane around Orchards, east along Blind Lane and north following the National Park boundary along the field and property boundaries to join Gorley Road, then north following the National Park boundary along Gorley Road to the north of land of Gorley Cottage, there west and north following the National Park boundary along property boundaries to join Gorley Road at Gorley Cross. Following the National Park boundary along the north side of Gorley Cross and north and west to include land including Jones Farm and following field and property boundaries north and east to the north of Hern Gate Farm joining the east side of Ringwood Road. North to the junction with Hern Lane, continuing to follow the National Park boundary north along field boundaries north to join Stuckton Road, at the river bridge. North along the National Park boundary to the east of Stuckton Road to the point where the National Park boundary diverges from the road, there east following the south field boundary to a point north of Rose Farm, then north along the east field boundaries, east of the track, then east where the track turns west and north along the field boundary to the junction with Southampton Road. North across Southampton Road, following the boundary to the east of Criddlestyle, north to the river, then following the river east bank and west boundary of Sandy Balls woodland, diverging from the river to continue north along the edge of the watermeadows to join the east side of the track, to the meet the east-west track, then following the field boundaries north and then south around land including Folds Farm, north east to the stream and then north following the east and north boundaries of the land including Armsley, which is also the south east bank of the River Avon. Continuing along the south east bank of the River Avon diverging to follow north the boundary of the watermeadows and the woodland to Castle Hill, continuing north west to include land including Lea Cottage, High Street, Woodgreen, to follow the boundary of the weatermeadows and field and property boundaries north, crossing the road to Breamore and continuing north along the boundary of the watermeadows and field and property boundaries to include land including Nursery Cottages, east to then following the north west verge of Hale Road north east, turning north west to include land including Rivermead, to the east bank of the River Avon. Around land of Rivermead north east and south east to meet and then follow the north west verge of Moot Lane to the north side of the track to the bridge over the River Avon. West to the north of the track to the river bank then north to include the footbridge over the stream and north following the east boundary of the water meadows to include land including Dairy Farm buildings, north continuing along the boundary of the watermeadows to join Moot Lane adjacent to the pumping station. North along the west verge of Moot Lane to the National Park boundary. Following the boundary south of Searchfield Lodge, east, south and east continuing to following the National Park boundary to the point at Hookers Copse where the National Park boundary turns north. East along the north boundary of Hookers Copse to the track and then east to the north side of the track to the ford crossing the stream to the north of Cowards Moor Copse. South to the east side of the track adjoining Cowards Moor Copse to the end of the track, then east and south along the field boundaries to the west of but not including Mayfield Farm, then east along the first field boundary south of Mayfield Farm, north, east and south continuing around this field boundary to meet the next field boundary going east. East and south along this field boundary, then east to the north and east of and to include land including Aubann House. East along the north verge of Hale Lane to its junction with Tethering Drove. East, along the north verge of Tethering Drove to the junction with the track opposite Purlieu View, south following the east side of the track to the ford then following the south side of the northly track north west along the boundary of the arable land to its junction with Hale Purlieu Road. South along the east verge of Hale Purlieu Road to the southerly point of and to include land including Archers Folly. North following the west side of Folly Drove, west along the boundary of Stricklands Plantation to the stream then south along the south side of the stream and to the north of the plantation boundary, continuing along the stream to the north of Homet Warren to its boundary with Ferney Homet Copse. South along the east boundary of Ferney Homet Copse to join the west side path, south and then south west to include land including the Homet. At the entrance to Homet south east across the track then south west along the east side of the track to its junction with Hale Purlieu Road. East along the north verge of the road to the corner, at which continuing east to the north of and including land including Millersholt and Millersford Lodge, then south along the field boundaries to the southerly point of and to include land including Brackens. West along the north boundary of Millersford Bottom to Densome Corner. North west along the south verge of the road to Woodgreen, to the east side of the track adjacent to Godshill Wood Cottage. South and then west to include land including Godshill Wood Cottage, following the woodland boundary, then north to rejoin the road to Woodgreen. West along the north boundary of Godshill Inclosure, to the south of the cricket ground, turning south to continue around the boundary of Godshill Inclosure, east of the cemetery across the road to the east side of Castle Hill road, then south to the east side of Castle Hill road, turning east to the north side of the road, following its boundary with Godshill Inclosure to the junction with Woodgreen Road. South along the east verge of Woodgreen Road, around and to land including Overbrook and land including buildings south of Overbrook. Continuing south along the east verge of Woodgreen Road to the junction with the track to the Oaks. East to the north of the track to include land including The Oaks, north east and south east around Brune’s Purlieu to Roger Penny Way. South west along the east side of Roger Penny Way to Godshill Green. Around and including Godshill Green then south along the boundary of Rookham Bottom to follow the east side of the adjoining road. Continuing around the boundary of Rookham Bottom along the north boundary of the track to include land including Hart Hill House and Hartwell. East along the north side of the track at Newgrounds to include land including Forest Brook Farm. East, south and west around the boundary of Newgrounds to end of the track from Blissford Road where it meets the Forest. South along the boundary between the arable land and property boundaries and the Forest to the road corner at Abbots Well, continuing south to the east side of the track and the boundary of Latchmoor Bottom. South east, south and south west around the boundary of Ogdens and the Forest up to and including land including Gorley Vale Farm. South to the east of the track adjoining Dorridge Hill. South west and south to include land including properties and arable land of Furzehill to Robin Hood’s Butt. South along the west boundary of Ibsley Common to include land including properties and arable land of Cuckoo Hill up to and to land including Hillydown Cottage. West along the Common boundary to include land including Fairview Cottage. South and south west along the west of the track up to and including land including Forest Holm. South to include land including the properties of Smugglers Way, Bracken Cottage, Little Patch and Beacon Cottage. North east along the north of the track to include land including Crossley Towers. South around the boundary of Ibsley Common to Newlands Plantation. South, east and south again around the boundary of Newlands Plantation, south west along the south verge of Linwood Road to Moyles Court Oak then south along the north side of the track to include land including Edgemoor. South east along the north side of the track to include land including Chatley Wood and Chatley Wood Cottage. South east and west around the land of the earthworks then south to the east of the track to its junction with the track which goes due east, following the north side of this track to include land including Little Whitemoor then north following the field boundaries to include land including Cherryoaks. East and south along the boundary between the arable land and Rockford Common to include land including Kasauli Pines. Continuing south along the boundary with Rockford Common to include land including Furzie Field. Again continuing around the boundary of the Common to include land including Primrose Spinney and around the north side of the track to include land including Northlynn Cottages. South east along the north side of the road to the corner, then south east to the south side of the path, around land including Linslade and Linview, continuing south along the north side of the track to Linford. East along the north verge and south west along the south verge of Linford Road to Shobley. South east along the north side of the access track to include land including Brook Farm. Continuing south east, south west and north west along the boundary of the agricultural land and Shobley Bottom. At the junction with Linford Road, south along the east verge to the junction with the A31. West along the north verge of the A31 to Hangersley Hill Road, north along the west verge of Hangersley Hill Road to the junction with Linford Road. South and west along the east and south verge of Hangersley Hill Road to the junction with the access track to Fieldings, then north to west of the track to include land including Yew Tree Cottage. West along the field boundaries to the National Park boundary. North following the National Park boundary to the south side of Linford Road.
