THE GREATER MANCHESTER (LIGHT RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM) (MEDIA CITY EXTENSION) ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER
The Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) of 2 Piccadilly Place, Manchester M1 3BG has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order to be made under sections 1 and 5 of that Act.
The proposed Order authorises a variation of the Greater Manchester (Light Rapid Transit System) (Eccles Extension) Order 1996 to provide for a spur off the Manchester light rail system to connect the new Media City development at Salford Quays with the Metrolink network. The new spur comprises a stretch of tramroad (approximately 350 metres) terminating in a new stop.
The Secretary of State has determined that the application is not to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.
