THE LONDON UNDERGROUND (VICTORIA STATION UPGRADE) ORDER - SCHEME MODIFICATION
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER
On 22 November 2007 London Underground Limited of 55 Broadway, London SW1H 0BD, applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the London Underground (Victoria Station Upgrade) Order under sections 1 and 5 of that Act.
The proposed Order would authorise the carrying out of works to upgrade Victoria underground station, comprising a new sub-surface ticket hall beneath Bressenden Place, the expansion of the existing Victoria Line ticket hall beneath Wilton Road, new lifts, sub-surface escalators and pedestrian links, and for that purpose, the acquisition, compulsorily or by agreement, of land and rights in land and to use land.
London Underground Limited is now making an application to the Secretary of State for Transport to make a number of modifications to the proposals (which nonetheless remain as described above). The principal modifications are (a) a reduction in the size of the proposed new sub-surface ticket hall beneath Bressenden Place; (b) deletion of a proposed tunnel beneath the Victoria Palace Theatre; (c) relocation of a proposed sump from Vauxhall Bridge Road to a location adjacent to the new sub-surface ticket hall beneath Bressenden Place; (d) change of location of a proposed construction shaft in Allington Street; (e) a reduction in depth of the proposed expansion of the existing Victoria Line ticket hall; and (f) adjustments to the alignment of sub-surface pedestrian links.
The application is subject to an environmental impact assessment and further information is now available in relation to the environmental statement which was provided with that application. This information is provided in the form of a supplementary environmental statement.
The application contains a statement that a direction for deemed planning permission is being applied for in relation to the development that would be authorised by the Order.
