TRANSPORT FOR LONDON ACT 2008
Notice is hereby given, pursuant to section 3(4) of the Transport for London Act 2008 (“the Act”) that Transport for London has taken a decision that 11 January 2009 be the appointed day for the purposes of section 27 (Penalty fare levels) of the Act. Accordingly, section 27 will come into effect on that date. Section 27 of the Act amends Schedule 17 to the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (which provides for the payment of penalty fares on TfL local bus services, London Underground, Docklands Light Railway and London Overground) so as to increase the level of a penalty fare (currently £20) and also to provide an early payment regime. On 11 January 2009 a penalty fare of £50 will be payable for both local services and train journeys including TfL bus services, London Underground, Docklands Light Rail and London Overground but the penalty fare will be reduced to £25 if payment is made before the end of a period of 21 days.
