PROPOSED MIDLAND METRO (NO.1) ORDER

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

Centro, the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive of Centro House, 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD, has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992, for the above named Order under sections 1 and 5 of that Act.

The draft Order makes provision for the repeal in relation to the existing Midland Metro system of the statutory requirement relating to the minimum distance between passing carriages in order to achieve consistency with current safety guidance.

The application is not to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.

A copy of the application, and all other documents submitted with it, may be inspected free of charge at the following places and times until 1 April 2010:–

• Centro, 4th Floor reception, Centro House, 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham B19 3SD, times: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays;

• Birmingham Central Library, 6th Floor, Chamberlain Square, Birmingham B3 3HQ, times: 9.00am to 8.00pm Mondays to Fridays and 9.00am to 5.00pm Saturdays.

Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, Transport and Works Act Orders Unit, Zone 1/31, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, email transportandworksact@dft.gsi.gov.uk. An objection or representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 1 April 2010, (ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or email), (iii) state the grounds of the objection or other representation, (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent. (If you are sending your objection or other representation by e-mail, please provide a postal address.)

The Secretary of State may make complete copies of the objections and other representations public, including any personal information in them, and will copy them to the applicant for the Order.
