BUDE CONSERVATION AREA

NOTICE IS GIVEN under the provisions of the 1990 Act that Cornwall Council has determined that the areas described in the Schedule to this Notice are of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance their character or appearance. It has accordingly extended the Bude Conservation Area, so as to include these areas.

The principal effects of this area being included within the Conservation Area are as follows:

  • 1 The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.
  • 2 Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.
  • 3 Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.
  • 4 In carrying out any functions under the planning Acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.
  • 5 Six weeks notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area.

Schedule

The current boundary is extended to include;

▪ To the west of its southern point to include Arundell Terrace, the boundary follows the western side of Vicarage Road to the south as far as Oyston Lodge.

▪ The boundary is extended on its north eastern side to include Belle Vue, Princes Street, Queen Street, and Belle Vue Lane. The new boundary to this area follows the northern side of Belle Vue as it curves to the north to join Burn View. Here the boundary follows the northern edge of Burn View and then as this road joins Lansdown Road the boundary follows the southern side of Lansdown Road.

▪ The boundary is extended on its western side to include the beach café, foreshore and the swimming pool.

STRATTON CONSERVATION AREA

NOTICE IS GIVEN under the provisions of the 1990 Act that Cornwall Council has determined that the areas described in the Schedule to this Notice are of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance their character or appearance. It has accordingly extended the Stratton Conservation Area, so as to include these areas.

The principal effects of this area being included within the Conservation Area are as follows:

  • 2 Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.
  • 3 Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.

The current boundary is extended to include;

▪ To its southern side, to run in a straight line from Howell’s Bridge to the Woodland below Huntfield Gardens thus including the car park south of Spicers Lane and the playground. At the south western corner the boundary is extended to include Pywell and follows the southern side of Union Hill road.

▪ On the eastern side the boundary is extended to include the garden to the north of Essex Cottage on Hospital Road

BREAGE CONSERVATION AREA

It has accordingly extended the Breage Conservation Area, so as to include this area.

  • 3 Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.

• To the west along the A394 road from Willavean to Troon Row and south to include Nos 1-17 Troon Row and The Little Cottage.

• To the south along Trewithick Road including on the east side Penvearne, Breage Primary School, and on the west side The Old Sunday School, 1-2 Troon Cottage and Breage Methodist Church.

• To the south to include fields at the rear of Vicarage Road, bordered to the west by Troon Row and to the east by Trewithick Road, and extending as far south as Breage Methodist Church and No 17 Troon Row.

• To the east along Shute Hill to include the Institute and Penbro Gwel

The current boundary is revised to exclude on the eastern side Nos 8-18 Pellor Fields.

St Paul’s Church, lych-gate and burial ground, the former rectory (Chacewater House), the land between the church and the existing conservation area, the Village Hall and Millennium Green.

• Land and properties to the west and north of High Street; extending to the west of the current conservation area, to include 2 fields on the south side of High Street and then extending northwards to include land and properties on the North side of High Street starting in the west from Lantern Cottage until it meets the current conservation area boundary. Then north and west of the current conservation area boundary, including all properties to the north and south of The Terrace, along North Hill, Hodges Court, Buckingham and the Leats

The boundary is rationalised to exclude;

It has accordingly extended the Devoran Conservation Area, so as to include these areas.

• Belmont, Belmont Farm and fields to south where they form the northern boundary of the existing conservation area, the former quarry to the west, the churchyard and Old Coach House.

• Land to the East of the current conservation are boundary to include landward side of Tallack’s Creek and entrance to the former Narabo wharf

• Land to south of Devoran House

• Land and properties to the south of Quay Road, starting in the east from the current conservation area boundary and then extending westwards taking in the land and buildings between Quay Road and the edge of Devoran Creek.

• Land and buildings between Greenbank Road and the edge of Devoran Creek, extending to the north to include Carnon Gate, Sand Cottages and Tresillian.

▪ Place Lodge and associated garden on the north side of Passage Lane and the brick built former mortuary on the south side of Passage Lane.

▪ No.s 22, 24 and 26 Tower Park and their front and rear gardens.

The boundary is rationalised and the following areas are excluded;

▪ Fowey Health Care Centre, Rawlings Lane and the southern half of the property and garden known as The Paddocks on Rawlings Lane.

It has accordingly extended the Grampound Conservation Area, so as to include this area.

The principal effects of this area being included within the conservation area are as follows:

  • 1 The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.
  • 2 Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.
  • 3 Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.
  • 4 In carrying out any functions under the planning Acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.
  • 5 Six weeks notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area.

NOTICE IS GIVEN under the provisions of the 1990 Act that Cornwall Council has determined that the area of natural landscape described in the Schedule to this Notice is not of special architectural or historic interest, and it has accordingly rationalised the Polkerris Conservation Area, so as to exclude this area.

The current boundary is rationalised to exclude;

▪ The six large agricultural fields surrounding the south and east boundaries of the built settlement and the area of woodland which extends northwards from the northern boundary of the historic allotment gardens along the western boundary of the gardens to the property known as Menavean (Menavean and gardens remain included).

An area to the south along Station Road including the following properties and their gardens on the east side; The former St Columb Motors Site, The Cabbage Patch, No.s 1 and 1a Station Road, Nos 1 and 2 Bishops Court, No.s 3-17 (odd) Station Road and the following property on the west side: Uplands, no. 2 Station Road.

▪ An area to the south along Trekenning Road including the following properties: No. 1 (The Bungalow) and No.s 1 and 3 Trekenning Road, Camelia House, No.s 5-23 (odd) Trekenning Road.

▪ The rear of Hoopers Garage on Fore Street, which adjoins Legion Lane, and the building immediately to the south.
