THE IPSWICH BARRIER ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER
The Environment Agency (Anglian Region) of Kingfisher House, Goldhay Way, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, PE2 5ZR has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order to be made under sections 3(1)(b) and 5 of that Act.
The proposed Order would authorise the construction and operation of a tidal barrier with a moveable gate across the river Orwell, the execution of ancillary works including dredging of the river, the acquisition compulsorily or by agreement, of land and rights in land and to use land for these purposes and ancillary provision for the regulation of vessels and good order. The Order would also confer powers to alter, stop up and divert existing, proposed and alleged paths and streets.
The application is to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.
Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application for the proposed Order should be sent to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, c/o TWA Orders Unit, Department for Transport, Zone 1/31, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DR (email: transportandworksact@dft.gsi.gov.uk) on or before Thursday, 1 July 2010.
An objection or other representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before Thursday 1 July 2010, (ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or email), (iii) state the grounds of the objection or other representation, (iv) indicate who is making the objection or other representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or other representation may be sent. (If you are sending your objection or other representation by email, please provide a postal address.)
The Secretary of State may make complete copies of the objections and other representations public, including any personal information contained in them, and will copy them to the Environment Agency as the applicant for the Order.
