APPLICATION TO INSTALL UP TO TWO DEMONSTRATION TURBINES IN THE NORTHERN THAMES ESTUARY AT THE SITE OF GUNFLEET SANDS OFFSHORE WIND FARM

Notice is hereby given that DONG ENERGY GUNFLEET SANDS DEMO (UK) LTD (Registration Number 7307044) (the ‘Company’) (whose registered office is C/O Watson, Farley & Williams LLP at 15 Appold Street, London, EC2A 2HB) has applied to the Marine Management Organisation under the Food and Environment Protection Act (1985) and Section 34 of the Coast Protection Act 1949, as amended by Section 36 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1988, and Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 together with a declaration as to rights of navigation under Section 36A of the Electricity Act 1989, (as included by Section 95 of the Energy Act 2004) for consent to install up to two demonstration wind turbines in the northern Thames Estuary, connecting to the previously constructed and operational wind farms at Gunfleet Sands 1 and Gunfleet Sands 2 with onshore connection to the electricity transmission system near Cooks Green, Clacton on Sea.

The offshore wind farm, which would be known as Gunfleet Sands 3 - Demonstration Project would have a total electrical capacity of up to 20 Megawatts and would occupy an area of approximately 1km². It is proposed to be located approximately 8.5km (nearest point) south east of Clacton-on-Sea.

A copy of the Environmental Statement explaining the Company’s proposals in more detail and presenting an assessment of the environmental impacts, with a Non-Technical Summary thereof, are available for inspection during normal working hours at the Company’s registered office as above and at:

Any person wishing to make representations about the applications should do so in writing to Ben Lander - Offshore Renewables Licensing Officer, Marine Management Organisation, Lancaster House, Hampshire Court, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7YH, offshore.renewables@marinemanagement.org.uk stating the name of the proposal and the nature of their representations, not later than 4th February 2011.

The Offshore Renewables Team, Marine Management Organisation will coordinate the receipt of any representations on behalf of each of the regulators concerned and will pass to the applicant a copy of any representations received unless the person or persons making the representations expressly request that their comments should not be copied to the applicant.
