THE RIVER TYNE (TUNNELS) (MODIFICATION) ORDER

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

The Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority (“the ITA”) of Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne NE99 2BN has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order under sections 3, 4 and 5 of that Act.

The proposed Order would, if made, amend the River Tyne (Tunnels) Order 2005 (“the 2005 Order”) so that the ITA will have a period of 8 years from 25 August 2005 (i.e. until 25 August 2013) to set the concession toll for vehicles using the new tunnel and existing Tyne Tunnel (together known as the “tunnel crossing”) instead of the period of 7 years (i.e. until 25 August 2012) as currently provided for in the 2005 Order.

The application is not to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.

Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, c/o TWA Orders Unit, General Counsel’s Office, Department for Transport, Zone 1/04, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DR (email: transportandworksact@dft.gsi.gov.uk). An objection or other representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before Friday, 21 October 2011, (ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or email), (iii) state the grounds of the objection or other representation, (iv) indicate who is making the objection or other representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or other representation may be sent. (If you are sending your objection or other representation by e-mail, please provide a postal address)

The Secretary of State may make complete copies of any objections or other representations public, including any personal information in them, and will copy them to the ITA as the applicant for the Order.
