ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE GLA ROADS AND GLA SIDE ROADS (STRUCTURES, APPROACHES AND SLIP ROADS) (LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE) PRESCRIBED ROUTES AND SPEED RESTRICTIONS TRAFFIC ORDER 2012
- 1 Transport for London, hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Order under sections 6, 7, 83 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
- 2 The general nature and effects of the Order would be to:-
- 5 All objections and other representations to the proposed Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Objections and representations must be sent to Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ quoting reference TD/PI/STOT/TRO, GLA/2012/0011, to arrive before 15 th December 2011. Objections and other representations may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
- 6 At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs and are as follows:
(1) When traffic signs indicating that there is no entry for vehicular traffic and/or that vehicles are prohibited are displayed in the vicinity of a restricted road no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in that road.
(2) When traffic signs indicating that pedestrians are prohibited are displayed in the vicinity of a restricted road no pedestrian shall enter or proceed in that road.
(3) When traffic signs indicating a maximum speed limit of 30 miles per hour are displayed in the vicinity of a restricted road no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in that road at a speed of more than 30 miles per hour.
- 3 The roads which would be affected by the Order are the A406 North Circular Road Waterworks Corner, Charlie Brown’s Roundabout, Woodford Viaduct, Redbridge Viaduct, Ilford Viaduct and their approaches and/or slip roads, and the A12 Eastern Avenue, Green Man Roundabout, Redbridge Roundabout and their approaches and/or slip roads in the London Borough Redbridge.
- 4 A copy of the Order, a statement of Transport for London’s reasons for the proposals, and copies of any Order(s) revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of:

- b For Eastbound traffic: eastbound off-slip to A104 Waterworks Roundabout, A104 Waterworks Roundabout, eastbound on-slip to A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road);
- c For the Westbound off-slip: Westbound traffic via A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road), off-slip to A112 Crooked Billet Roundabout, A112 Crooked Billet Roundabout return onto A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road) on-slip, A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road), eastbound off-slip to A104 Waterworks Roundabout;

- e For the Westbound On-Slip: Eastbound on-slip onto A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road), A406 Southend Road, eastbound off-slip to Charlie Browns Roundabout, Charlie Browns Roundabout westbound on-slip to A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road), continue onto A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road);
- f For the Eastbound on-slip: Westbound on-slip to A406 southend road (North Circular Road), A406 Southend Road westbound off-slip to A112 Crooked Billet Roundabout, A112 Crooked Billet Roundabout, return via eastbound on-slip to A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road), continue onto A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road).
2) For the A12 Green Man Roundabout;
- a Eastbound A12 traffic to continue via Green man Roundabout, George Green Tunnel, A12 Eastern Avenue, A12 Redbridge Roundabout, return westbound via A12 Eastern Avenue, A12 George Green Tunnel, A12 westbound off-slip to Green Roundabout.
- b Westbound traffic continue via Green Man Roundabout, A12 East Cross Route, A12 Blackwall Tunnel Approach southbound off-slip to A12 Bow Roundabout, return via northbound on-slip to A12 Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach, A12, eastbound off-slip to Green Man Roundabout.
3) For the A406 Southend Road/North Circular Road, Woodford Viaduct;
- a For Southbound Traffic: A406 Southend Road southbound off-slip to Charlie Browns Roundabout, Charlie Browns Roundabout, A1400 Southend Road, A1400 Woodford Avenue, A12 Gants Hill Roundabout, A12 Eastern Avenue, A12 Redbridge Roundabout, southbound on-slip to A406 North Circular Road;
- b For Northbound Traffic: A406 North Circular Road northbound off-slip to A12 Redbridge Roundabout. A12 Redbridge Roundabout, A12 Eastern Avenue, A12 Gants Hill Roundabout, A1400 Woodford Avenue, A1400 Southend Road, Charlie Browns Roundabout, northbound on-slip to A406 North Circular Road.
4) For the A406 Charlie Brown’s Roundabout;
- a Eastbound A406 traffic to continue southbound via A406 Woodford Viaduct, A406 North Circular Road, southbound off-slip to A12 Redbridge Roundabout, A12 Redbridge Roundabout, eastbound along A12 Eastern Avenue;
- b Westbound A12 Eastern Avenue traffic to continue westbound along a12 Eastern Avenue, A12 Redbridge Roundabout, A406 northbound on-slip to North Circular Road, Woodford Viaduct, North Circular Road, Westbound off-slip to A104 Waterworks Roundabout, A104 Waterworks Roundabout, return via eastbound on-slip to A406 North circular Road, eastbound off-slip to Charlie Brown’s Roundabout.
5) For the A406 Ilford Viaduct;
- a For Southbound traffic; via off-slip from A406 South Woodford to Barking Relief Road (North Circular Road), on-slip to A406 South Woodford to Barking Relief Road (North Circular Road);
- b For Northbound Traffic; via off-slip from A406 South Woodford to Barking Relief Road (North Circular Road), on-slip to A406 South Woodford to Barking Relief Road (North Circular Road);

- a A12 Westbound Approach to Redbridge Roundabout;
Westbound traffic to be diverted at Gants Hill Roundabout, A1400 Woodford Avenue, A1400 Southend Road, A406 Charlie Brown’s Roundabout, A406 Westbound on-slip to Southend Road (North Circular Road), A406 Westbound off-slip to A104 Waterworks Roundabout, A104 Waterworks Roundabout, Return via A406 Eastbound on-slip to Southend Road, A406 Southend Road, A406 Woodford Viaduct, A406 North Circular Road, A406 Southbound off-slip to A12 Redbridge Roundabout;
- b A12 Eastbound Approach to A12 Redbridge Roundabout;
A12 Northbound Traffic (from Blackwall Tunnel) to be diverted east via A13 East India Dock Road, A13 Newham Way, A13 eastbound off-slip to A406 Becton Roundabout, A406 Becton Roundabout, A406 northbound on-slip to North Circular Road, A406 Barking Viaduct, A406 Ilford Viaduct, A406 northbound off-slip to A12 Redbridge Roundabout.
The north & southbound approaches from A406 have already been incorporated within the closure of A406 Redbridge Viaduct
Or other alternative route advised by the Borough.
