LONDON LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND TRANSPORT FOR LONDON ACT 2003
NOTICE IS HEREBY given that the Council of the London Borough of Merton resolved on 23rd November 2011 to exercise the powers confirmed by Legislation section: Sections 4 and Legislation section: 7 of the Legislation: London Local Authorities and Transport for London Act 2003 (therein after referred to as “the Act”) to issue penalty charge notices for contraventions of traffic management orders which impose restrictions or prohibitions on the movement of vehicles or certain classes of vehicles. The enforcement will be carried out through the use of CCTV cameras.
The enforcement of the road traffic contraventions set out in Schedule 3 of the Act shall transfer from the Metropolitan Police to the London Borough of Merton. The Council intends to commence the operation of these powers with effect from 5th April 2012 .
In general terms, these road traffic contraventions are those:
• Requiring vehicles to proceed in a particular direction;
• Prohibiting them from turning in a certain direction;
• Restricting some or all vehicles from using certain roads or routes or restricted areas;
• Relating to yellow box junctions.
All such requirements, restrictions or prohibitions are indicated by the relevant traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002.
