DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER AT EAST ANGLIA OFFSHORE WIND FARM ZONE (EAST ANGLIA ONE OFFSHORE WIND FARM ORDER)
NOTICE PUBLICISING A PROPOSED APPLICATION FOR A DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER (DCO)
Notice is hereby given that East Anglia One Limited ( the Applicant ) of 4th Floor, 1 Atlantic Quay, Glasgow G2 8JB proposes to apply to the Infrastructure Planning Commission ( the Commission ) under Legislation section: section 37 of The Legislation: Planning Act 2008 for the above-mentioned development consent order ( the Application ).
The Application relates to the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm within the East Anglia zone of the North Sea (the Project). The proposed wind farm is 43.4km from the coast of Suffolk at its closest point to land and covers an area of 300km 2 .
The proposed DCO will, amongst other things, authorise:
- 1 Offshore wind turbines and foundations (up to 325 wind turbines to provide an installed capacity of around 1200MW).
- 2 Scour protection around the foundations and on inter-array and export cables if required.
- 3 Up to five offshore collector/converter stations with foundations.
- 4 Undersea cables between the wind turbines and offshore platforms.
- 5 Up to four offshore undersea export cables to transmit electricity from the offshore platforms to the shore.
- 6 A landfall site in the vicinity of Bawdsey, Suffolk, with onshore transition pits to connect the offshore and onshore cables.
- 7 Up to four onshore underground cables running for approximately 30km from the landfall at Bawdsey to the connection point near Bramford, Suffolk, with jointing pits to transmit electricity to a new onshore substation and up to eight underground cable ducts.
- 8 An onshore converter station adjacent to existing National Grid infrastructure near Bramford, Suffolk, to connect the offshore wind farm to the National Grid.
- 9 The permanent compulsory acquisition (if required) of land and/or rights for the Project.
- 10 Overriding of easements and other rights over or affecting land for the Project.
- 11 The application and/or disapplication of legislation relevant to the Project including inter alia legislation relating to compulsory purchase.
- 12 Such ancillary, incidental and consequential provisions, permits or consents as are necessary and/or convenient.
The Project is an environmental impact assessment development. Accordingly, the Applicant will be making preliminary environmental information available. Copies of the preliminary environmental information which includes details of the nature and route of the proposed development may be inspected free of charge from 10 February 2012 until at least 30 March 2012 at the following locations and during the hours set out below:

Any response or representation in respect of the proposed development consent order MUST (i) be received by the Applicant on or before 30th March 2012 (ii) be made in writing, (iii) state the grounds of the response or representation and (iv) indicate who is making the response or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the response or representation may be sent.
