NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATION FOR A DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER BY THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING COMMISSION
- 1 Notice is hereby given that the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) has accepted an application made by Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Limited (the Applicant ) of Auckland House, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon, Wiltshire SN5 8ZT for a development consent order (DCO) under the Planning Act 2008 for the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm (the Application ). The Application was made on 31 January 2012 and accepted on 23 February 2012 (reference: EN010005).
- 2 The Applicant is a wholly owned subsidiary of RWE Npower Renewables Limited, which is in turn owned by RWE Innogy. RWE Innogy is a European-wide renewable energy company owned by RWE AG.
- 3 The Application relates to the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm which comprises up to 288 wind turbine generators and associated offshore infrastructure, with an installed capacity of up to 1,200 megawatts (MW) (the Project). The Project is situated on the bed of the North Sea approximately 33 kilometres (km) (20.5 miles) off the coast of Lincolnshire, 46 km (28.5 miles) off the coast of North Norfolk and 48 km (29.8 miles) off the nearest point on the East Riding of Yorkshire coast. The Project occupies an area of approximately 135 km 2 (52.1 square miles or 39.4 square nautical miles). The Project is within the Renewable Energy Zone.
- 4 The DCO would, amongst other things, authorise:
• Construction of up to 288 offshore wind turbines, the number being dependent on the generating potential of each turbine, with a maximum height of up to 220 metres (m).
• Construction of up to four offshore meteorological stations to collect information such as wind speeds and wind direction;
• Construction of up to eight offshore electricity substations;
• Cables buried in the sea bed to link the wind turbines and the offshore substations;
• Such ancillary, incidental and consequential provisions, permits or consents as are necessary and/or convenient (including a deemed marine licence).
- 5 The proposed works are EIA development for the purposes of the Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2009 and accordingly an Environmental Statement accompanied the Application.

- 7 The Application documents will be on display at the above locations and times and available for inspection free of charge from 21 st March 2012 until at least 9 th May 2012. Copies of the suite of Application documents can be obtained for a charge of £500 for hard copies and £10 for electronic copies on CD. Copies of individual documents are available on request. A charge may apply.

Further details in relation to the Project can be found on the Applicant’s website at www.npower-renewables.com/tritonknoll.
- 9 Any responses to, or other representations in respect of, the Project must be made on an Application to Register as an Interested Party (Relevant Representation) Form which can be completed online or alternatively downloaded from the IPC website at http://infrastructure.independent.gov.uk or obtained from the IPC by telephoning 0303 444 5000 .
- 10 Responses should be sent to the Infrastructure Planning Commission, Temple Quay House, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN . The IPC reference for the Project should be quoted in any correspondence, which is EN010005. Under the Localism Act, the IPC will be abolished on 1st April 2012 and the Planning Inspectorate will take over its work. If you register as an interested party in this application after 1st April you will automatically be redirected to the Planning Inspectorate website. Emails sent to the IPC after 1st April will also be redirected. The telephone number for enquiries about national infrastructure projects will not change.
Any representation or response must be received by the IPC by 9th May 2012.
